Last spring, the Nevada Legislature passed a balanced budget, reduced the business tax for more than 70% of Nevada businesses and cut state spending by more than a billion dollars. This balanced budget was based on projections made by the Economic Forum- an independent, nonpartisan panel of Nevada economist and business leaders.

While Economic Forum projections were based on expectations of a very slow recovery, very sadly, it has been even slower than anticipated, and we now find ourselves with a $900 million budget shortfall.

I will continue to provide you updates on this process. In the meantime, please contact me any time with any suggestions or questions you might have.

The best days for our state are still to come and I believe that working together we will make it through our current economic challenges.
